Type 2 Diabetes Diet With Healthy Food Plan Can Reverse Diabetes

With obesity levels being at an all time high, the epidemic of type 2 diabetes is growing at an alarming rate, and will only get worse. Between 2001 and 2002, the diagnosis of diabetes went from 5.5 percent of Americans to an alarming 6.5 percent. In just one year! It has continued to increase during the past 10 years at an increasing rate.

Overall, twelve million Americans have been diagnosed and another 5 million Americans have diabetes and don’t know it. And yet another 12 millions are on their way to type 2 diabetes because of impaired glucose levels. To reverse diabetes type 2 diet and exercise can benefit millions of suffering individuals battling the illness. Not knowing is the worst because risks of untreated diabetes type 1 puts a person at a terrible risk of complications including but not limited to blindness, amputations and ultimately death.

The stickler is, that type 2 diabetes is almost completely preventable. Doctor’ say eat less, eat better and exercise. The statistics confirm that there is an epidemic of overeating in America. Portions of food have significantly increased over the past 30 years so that daily caloric intake has risen dramatically. Ultimately, a healthy body weight means control of caloric intake. Using organic foods in the right combination is a natural diabetes treatment that can reverse the symptoms.

Statistically, people are now living longer, and it has been on the rise for years. But this will not continue if type 2 diabetes is not put under control. We are a gluttonous society and ultimately it is affecting how we live and how long we live. And unfortunately, the diabetes epidemic is not just a US problem. It is spreading worldwide with epidemic reports in Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

It is estimated that by 2025, the number of diabetics worldwide will rise to 380 million. And diabetes is now affecting more of the young and middle-aged population in developing countries between the ages of 40 and 59. To reverse diabetes type 2 through healthy eating and living style can be accomplished and is key in reversing this trend.

All too often we get sick but ignore the symptoms we may be feeling, shrugging them off to a cold, stress from work, or just not feeling well. There are certain symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored if they develop. These symptoms could lead to blindness, amputation of limbs, coma or even death.

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes often come on suddenly and are severely dramatic. The extra stress of diabetes can lead to something called diabetic ketoacidosis. Symptoms of ketoacidosis may include nausea and vomiting, which may also lead to dehydration and serious problems with the blood levels of potassium. This could lead to a diabetic coma and ultimately death. Other symptoms of diabetes may include extreme fatigue. We all get tired at times, but diabetes triggers a more severe fatigue than normal. That is why it is essential to follow an appropriate type 2 diabetes diet.

People with diabetes also experience unexplained weight loss. This is because they are unable to process many of the calories they consume. Losing sugar and water in the urine also contributes to the weight loss. Extreme thirst is another symptom of diabetes. Diabetes develops high blood sugar levels and the body tries to compensate by diluting the blood, which translates to our brain that we are thirsty.

With this is also excessive urination. It is another way our bodies have of getting rid of the extra sugar in our system. But this can also lead to dehydration. This is why it is so important to get a healthy diet with an exercise program that can reverse the effects of these symptoms.

One of the hardest symptoms to deal with is poor wound healing. Wounds heal slowly, if at all when the carrier has diabetes. This along with infections that are not easily remedied can attribute to ulcers and loss of limbs. This is a very cruel aspect of severe diabetes. A type 2 diabetes diet can reverse diabetes with a consistent program of healthy diet with the right foods and increased exercise to help lose weight.

I have been interested in the possibilities of reversing type 2 diabetes naturally and have learned so much from professional sources. I can apply the techniques I have learned into real life situations. I found an amazing resource that you can can use to reverse your type 2 diabetes here at Natural Diabetes Treatment.

Type 2 Diabetes Diet You Can Live With

Type 2 Diabetes is a lifelong disease marked by high levels of sugar in the blood. Is there any good type 2 diabetes diet? Let’s see some suggestions here.

One diet suggestion to control type 2 diabetes symptoms is by carbohydrate counting. This way of meal planning is an easy way to keep track of the total amount of carbohydrates that a person eats every day. By distributing the number of grams of carbs that the dieter is allowed each day throughout several small meals, a diabetes sufferer can help to control their blood sugar while still eating what they want to eat at each meal.

Type 2 diabetes diets should also include plenty of vegetables, fruits and lean proteins. They should also stress healthy carbohydrates such as stone cut oatmeal, brown and wild rice varieties, and whole grains.

Keep away from processed carbohydrates.

It is important to avoid processed carbohydrates like white bread and rice when following type 2 diabetes diet plans. Processed carbs are notorious for causing spikes in blood sugar, which in turn, cause type 2 diabetes symptoms to become worse. Carbohydrates are a tricky food category since the body needs carbs to provide fuel to the body. Carbohydrates are also what produce glucose, which is the primary carrier of energy to the body’s cells. However, too much glucose is what causes spikes in blood sugar. Therefore, a type 2 diabetes plan should carefully pair the right amount of the right kinds of carbs with both protein and a small amount of fat.

Cut most fat from your diet.

Since diabetes can lead to heart disease, it is important for a person with diabetes to cut most fat from their diet, especially saturated and trans fats, which clog arteries. In general, type 2 diabetes diet plans should allow the dieter to eat a variety of low-fat diabetes foods without several restrictions. Lean meats including lean red meat (which includes pork), poultry, and fish should be eaten in small portions and prepared by baking, grilling, roasting, or broiling instead of frying in large amounts of oil. Also, low-fat dairy products should be used whenever possible. Of course, learning to cook vegetables without drowning them in high-fat flavorings such as butter, oil and full-fat dairy products will also help keep type 2 diabetes symptoms in check.

Besides, maintaining a healthy weight, don’t forget regular exercise and a healthy eating lifestyle are very important to helping a diabetic live as normal of a lifestyle as possible.

By following a low-fat, low-carbohydrate type 2 diabetes diet full of healthy fruits, vegetables, lean meats and fiber, a diabetes patient can help control their type 2 diabetes symptoms and maybe even slow the development of the disease.

Type 2 Diabetes Diet – Why Do Diabetics Hate It So

Type 2 Diabetes Diet vicious circle. You feel rotten. You want comfort food (mostly sugar and processed flour â?? cake, candy, pie, ice cream, pizza). Quick sugar rush. Feel good for an hour. Crash and burn. The cycle repeats. How can a diabetic break the cycle?

Problem #1: Medical professionals are not in agreement as to what causes diabetes.

As a type II diabetic, I basically know what I should be eating and what I should be avoiding or eliminating from my diet. A type 2 diabetes diet is not rocket science. Eat real food. Get adequate protein. Avoid processed wheat, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Simple.

And exercise. Couch potatoes are at even higher risk.

Life has told you to eat your vegetables. I don’t really hate vegetables, but I don’t seek them out at the buffet table either. To me, the only vegetable I want to consume is V8 Juice. If I could, I would have a V8 tree out back and harvest 2 or 3 cans a day.

Real reasons diabetics hate dietary restrictions:

1. Force. We’re adults, dammit. We should be able to do and eat what we want.

2. Even if I didn’t have diabetes, I don’t want to diet. Each new fad and food pyramid and hormone injection seems sillier than the previous ones. If diets worked, the diet book section at Barnes and Noble would have 1 volume.

3. People often consume things that are not good for them. Beer. Bourbon. Cigarettes. How bad can a slice and a Coke be?

4. The foods we crave and which we now have to avoid are the ones that brought on the disease in the first place.

5. Chicken or the egg. If I didn’t crave Edy’s Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie ice cream, and didn’t develop diabetes, I could eat all of it that I want. Now that I want it, I can’t have it.

6. Jonesing for sugar. If they invent pizza with an apple pie topping, I’m in. For most of my life, sugar was a major food group.

7. Conflicting medical information. Coffee is not okay, or maybe it is if you drink it black. Fruit is okay one day and too high in sugar the next. Avoid all sugar, or have small portions of anything you want. Eat less animal fat, but get your protein.

Doctors – get the answers straight before you hit the Today show. If you don’t have an answer, how can we.

In actuality, many type II diabetics can make it on a diet doctors recommend for everyone, especially our obese Americans on the SAD (Standard American Diet) diet.

-low fat
-low sugar
-low salt
-plenty of fruits and vegetables
-whole grains, beans, potatoes

You have to experiment for yourself. An inexpensive blood testing meter will let you know if it’s time to have a glass of water and a handful of almonds to get that blood sugar down. Work with your doctor to develop a plan for diet and medication.

Doctors may be heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical companies, but they are even more dependent on trust from their patients. I personally believe that a type 2 diabetes diet of lean meat, fish, whole foods, fruits, and vegetables can not only keep diabetes in check while also reducing obesity and lowering the risk of heart disease, strokes, and dementia.

The Type 2 Diabetic Diet And Exercise Routine

For adults diagnosed with adult onset type 2 diabetes most health care professionals agree that the best way to control its effects are with a type 2 diabetic diet and exercise. Although some people are genetically predisposed to contracting diabetes most cases are caused by poor lifestyle choices centered around bad diet, obesity, and a lack of exercise. Reversing the damage caused by years of un-healthy living is hard to do but if the specter of type 2 diabetes is looming over your long term health it is vitally important to change the way you live to best control the long term consequences that diabetes is known for.

Since both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are major health issues it is important to consult you doctor before starting any new diet or exercise plan. Your doctor can get you started in the right direction and recommend a dietician who specializes in the type 2 diabetic diet. The dietician can help taylor a customized diabetic meal plan to your specific needs. There will be foods that are for the most part off limits but in most cases moderation is the key to combating this disease and the health issues it is directly responsible for.

Probably the biggest dietary change for the type 2 diabetic is cutting sugar and simple carbohydrates out of their diet. Sodas, candy, and baked goods are to be avoided because they pose the greatest threat to the diabetic; hyperglycemia otherwise known as high blood sugar.

Instead of the empty calories to be found in high sugar and processed foods you should eat a diet of nutrient rich foods that provide the necessary health benefits that only they can provide. Fruits, vegetables, and protein from lean meats and nuts are a good place to start with a type 2 diabetic diet. These foods and others provide a good mix of nutrients including complex carbohydrates which provide you with a steady supply of energy throughout the day and keep your blood sugar levels consistent.

The other important aspect of the diet for those with type 2 diabetes is how often you eat during the day. Instead of eating two or three big meals you need to be eating five or six smaller meals throughout the day. This helps avoid the big blood sugar spikes that are associated with eating big meals. Eating smaller meals will keep you blood sugars at a steady level which is easier to control.

Step 2 in properly controlling the effects of your diabetes is a regular exercise routine. Any type of exercise is a good thing and if you do nothing more then go for regular walks you are off to a good start. As you progress and your health improves and your diabetes comes under control you can add to your routine if you wish. Join a gym, go for bike rides, yoga, aerobics, or any other physical activity you enjoy are all good ways to add variety to your program.

The complications caused by type 2 diabetes can be easily managed and avoided by following a sensible type 2 diabetic diet plan and exercise program. By making these simple lifestyle changes and staying healthy you can control your diabetes and live your life to the fullest.

Type II Diabetes and Diabetic Diet Planning

Type II diabetes makes up to 95 percent of patients having diabetes. In this type, the pancreas produce insulin, but the body is unable to use it properly. Type II diabetes typically has a gradual onset, appearing in adults around the age of 30, and sometimes in younger person. It is usually not utmost necessary to take insulin injections (unlike Type I where it is imperative as pancreas do not produce any insulin in this type). Type II diabetes can often be managed through a proper diet and exercise alone. Very often, a prescription drug is taken to help the body properly manage sugar levels.

Warning signs include blurred vision, drowsiness, excessive weight gain, numbness in the hands or feet and slow healing of cuts/wounds.

Salient features of a diabetic diet planning

* The diabetic diet planning relies upon the proper proportion of carbohydrates to proteins and fats.

* The diet needs to provide some dietary fat to help prevent post-meal spikes in blood sugar levels. However, saturated fats should be limited to reduce the risk of heart disease.

* Protein should be kept to 20% or less of daily calories in order to prevent or delay the onset of diabetic kidney disease

* The target of a Diabetic diet is to achieve and maintain recommended blood glucose levels (70-140 mg/dl), cholesterol levels (200 mg/dl or less), and blood pressure (120/80 mm Hg).

* Weight loss is often beneficial for people with type II diabetes. Mild to moderate weight loss is known to help control this type of diabetes significantly, even if the desirable body weight is not achieved. Losing 7 to 15 kgs of excess weight results in significant improvement in respect to the goals listed above. Weight loss may even help to reduce the dosage of anti diabetic medication.
