However, these pills may create dependencies resulting in drug abuse. Different side effects like increased blood pressure, insomnia, diarrhea, dampness and palpitation are found by the regular consumption of these pills. There are a few cases where people died because of the consumption of weight loss pills.

Why Most Weight Loss Diets Don’t Work

If you’ve ever gone on a diet, you’ve learned two things: dieting is no fun. And even if you lose some weight, you usually gain it back. But why is that?

There is plenty of medical evidence to prove that dieting actually can make you fat. And that happens because your body goes to war with any weight loss diet. They aren’t natural and the body craves only a natural state of being. So as you struggle to find a weight loss diet that works, your body makes it tougher and tougher for that unnatural state to persist, which results in the negative effects of yo yo dieting: weight gain.

In this article, we examine the physical reasons why your body sabotages your efforts to diet. We’ll also look at ways to overcome them so your weight loss diet has a better chance of working.

Defense Mechanisms Overview

Our bodies have defense mechanisms that evolved in us throughout history. In early times, food shortages required the body to accumulate fat stores to protect against the lean times. And to this day,our bodies are still programmed this way, even though it’s no longer needed.

So when we go on a diet, the body thinks hard times are here so it goes into fat-storage mode to protect us. The more dieting you do, the more your body thinks it has to store fat. Your task,if you want to lose weight, is to outsmart the following defense mechanisms.

Metabolism

We often use the word metabolism – “I have a slow metabolism”, “I have a fast metabolism.” But what does it really mean in terms of a weight loss diet?

Metabolism refers to all the processes occurring in the body that are responsible for life: your heartbeat, your body temperature, breathing, and the burning of calories to create energy. Your metabolism determines how many calories your body burns to do its job. That’s how your metabolism can be influenced by any weight loss diet that restricts calories.

Repeated diets cause your body to slow down its metabolism in order to become more efficient and continue running on fewer calories. But when you end your diet and return to a normal caloric intake, your body isn’t used to burning all those calories, so it stores the leftover ones as fat. So to prevent that, you now have to eat much less than before just to maintain your new weight. In other words: your diet can never end in order to be successful. And a diet without end is a dire prospect for most of us.

Fat-Storing Enzymes

LPL enzymes store fat. That’s their job. When you diet, the LPL become more active and grow in number. The problem is, when you finish your diet, the LPL levels don’t return to normal until you regain most of the weight you lost.Another way your body makes weight loss dieting very difficult. (Don’t worry, we’ll provide some sensible weight loss diet suggestions that DO work at the end of this article.)

Calorie Absorption

When you diet, your intestines get super efficient at absorbing calories. They go into overdrive, trying to fully stock the body with nutrients by getting as many calories out of the food you eat as possible, not letting any pass out of the body. So the result is logical: dieting makes your intestines very good at absorbing and storing up calories. Exactly what you don’t want when you’re on a weight loss diet to lose pounds.

The Body Fat Dilemma

Poor dieting can make you fatter than you were before. That’s because when you lose the weight, it often comes from water and muscles. But when you gain it back, it returns in the form of fat. So you wind up with a higher proportion of fat to lean muscle than you had before.

Hormonal Disruptions

Low cal weight loss diets make your thyroid gland produce less of the hormone that regulates metabolism. And that can reduce your calorie burning ability by up to 15%. Not helpful for anyone trying to lose weight.

Skipping Breakfast

Missing meals may be the worst kind of weight loss diet because calories taken early in the day are burned off faster than those eaten at night. So skipping breakfast and eating more in the evening actually contributes to the weight problem. In fact, eating all your daily calories for breakfast can lead to weight loss, eating them all at night leads to weight gain.

Training Your Stomach

Overeating at meal time stretches out the stomach. That trains it to want more food in order to get that full feeling. But people who eat small meals more often need and want less food. The stomach can be trained over time to adapt to smaller meals and snacks taken throughout the day. When the stomach is smaller, it will fill faster and demand less food.

Beating Your Body’s Defense Mechanisms

As promised, here are some ways to override your body’s defenses and create a sensible, effective weight loss diet that really works:

1. Don’t yo-yo diet. Come up with a healthy weight loss diet plan and see it through until you get results.

2. Don’t drop calorie intake below 1,000 a day. The body sees this as a threat. Instead, eat enough calories that contain the right balance of nutrients like proteins and carbs while reducing fats.

3. Include fiber in any weight loss diet plan. It helps food and fats pass through the intestines quickly, rather than getting absorbed in the form of calories.

4. Avoid simple carbs like sugars: they are quickly absorbed by the body as blood sugar which increases insulin – the enemy of weight loss diets.

5. Drink caffeine in moderation for the same reason. It stimulates insulin secretion.

6. Never go hungry. Eating regular meals and snacks will help eliminate those dangerous cravings and keep your body’s defense mechanisms from going into starvation mode.

7. Eat more of your daily calories early in the day and less of them later.

8. Be content with slow weight loss. This prevents the body from going on defense and allows the weight loss to continue gradually.

9. Keep the weight off with exercise.

One More Thing

Even following these guidelines, some people who are obese or very overweight find it difficult to lose weight. For them, medication may help to support their weight loss diet.

How Does Online Weight Loss Program Work

If you are interested in losing weight, you may have thought about joining a local weight loss program or visiting a local weight loss center. Unfortunately, if you are like many other individuals who are interested in losing weight, you may not necessarily have the time to do so. Whether you have a demanding job, a family to take care of, or both, you may find it impossible to meet up with a local weight loss group on a regular basis. If that is the case, you may be thinking that achieving your weight loss goal is simply out of reach, but it doesn’t have to be.

What many individuals do not know is that they can join an online weight loss program. Online weight loss programs are similar to many locally operated weight loss programs. Often times, the only difference is that you do not get to meet with group leaders or other members in person. If you are searching for a way to incorporate weight loss into your busy schedule, you are urged to examine online weight loss programs. These online weight loss programs are designed for all individuals, but they are perfect for those who regularly find themselves pressed for time.

When it comes to online weight loss programs, you will find that these online weight loss programs come in a number of different formats. For starters, it is possible to find free online weight loss programs; however, you will likely find that the best ones require the paying of a membership fee. Although each weight loss program is likely to vary, many have affordable monthly membership rates, some as low as five dollars a month. It is also possible to find weight loss programs that are designed for women, men, those over the age of fifty, and so forth.

If you have never joined an online weight loss program before, you may be wondering a little bit more about how they work. As previously stated, not all online weight loss programs are the same. With that in mind, however, you will find that many operate in similar matters. A few of the many member perks that you may get, when joining an online weight loss program, are outlined below.

One of the many perks or benefits to joining an online weight loss program is that you should get access to workout or exercise information. Many online weight loss programs will give you access to their website, which should have exercises and workouts outlined for you. You should be able to get detailed directions for those exercises, pictures, and possibly even sample videos. Some more expensive online weight loss programs will give you access to customize workouts, ones which focus on the areas of your body that you would most like to improve.

Another member perk or feature that you should get access to with an online weight loss program is that of healthy recipes. Healthy eating is an important part of weight loss. That is why many online weight loss programs have a healthy eating section. Not only may you get healthy food recipes, but you may also get moneysaving coupons, as well as cooking and food shopping tips.

As previously stated, often times the only difference between a locally operated weight loss program and an online program is the fact that you do not get to meet with the group leaders or other group members in person. With online weight loss programs, you may not get in-person contact, but you may still be able to communicate. Many online weight loss programs have online message boards for their members to communicate with each other.

As a reminder, it is important to remember that not all online weight loss programs are the same. Despite the possibility of a variance, you should find that most online weight loss programs are more than worth your money, especially if you regularly find yourself pressed for time.

Top Ten Diets That Work- The 3 Critical Keys To Avoiding Diets That Don’t Work

I recently completed months of research to compile a list of the top ten diets that work. I put together the list at the request of MANY personal training clients. In performing my research, I not only uncovered key aspects of successful diets, I also found shared characteristics of unsuccessful diets.

1) Starvation Is NEVER Successful

Never means NEVER!
I discovered one diet, for example, that limited individuals to 500 calories a day. The diet was developed by an Italian doctor, and combines the 500 calorie diet with injections of HCG, which is a growth hormone found in young boys. Despite a lack of creditable evidence that the combination “aids” weight loss, the diet has been around for years.

Individuals do, in fact, lose weight rapidly on the diet. However, common sense tells us that ANYONE would lose weight on 500 calories a day!

H-E-L-L-O!

I discovered that individuals tend to feel tired and weak on the diet, and gaining back the lost weight is the general rule. Frequent periods of no weight loss,(plateaus), are common due to a profound metabolic slowdown. Plateaus were far less common in the top ten diets that work.

2) The Diet Has Little Variety

Diets that offer little variety can be boring and unsafe. If a diet focuses on one food group, for example, such as protein, it lacks essential vitamins, minerals and fiber. Each of these has an important role in an individual’s health and well being

The monotony of eating too much of one kind of food can make sticking to the diet long term, very difficult. Also, if an individual manages to lose some weight, the chances are great that the weight will return when they return to their previous eating preferences.

3) The Plan Has No “Exit” Strategy
For a weight loss program to be truly succesful. a maintenance plan must be included. The top ten diets that work, for example, all had a maintenance plan to hep individuals keep the weight off

Look, I know how frustrating it is to try diet after diet, give it your best shot, only to fail.
It STINKS!!
So I took it upon myself to research well over 100 different diets. I even tried a few myself! My research was conducted online with surveys, and offline with phone interviews of specialists in diet and nutrition. After months of meticulous research, I revealed my Top Ten Diets That Work!

How Low Carb Diets Work

Many people are confused about how low carb diets work. It doesn’t make sense to them that you can eat more fat and protein than is traditionally called for and still lose weight.

A low carb diet plan greatly restricts the amount of carbohydrates you consume, as compared with a traditional North American diet, or even compared with a low fat diet. While our bodies would usually burn stored carbohydrates for energy, low carb eating forces the body to burn more stored fat instead. When this happens, your body produces chemicals called “ketones”. Ketones result when your kidneys convert fat to soluble waste. Getting your body to reach this point is one of the goals of a low carbohydrate diet.

There is a scientific reason behind the development of this diet. Dr. Robert Atkins first introduced the concept of eating a low carbohydrate diet in the 1970s. He noticed that primitive people consumed a diet of mostly meat, vegetables and some fruit.

Because this diet was in existence for thousands of years before the development of agriculture, Atkins concluded that the reason most people had difficulty losing weight and keeping it off is that we are eating contrary to the way our digestive system is set up. In other words, our bodies do not support eating wheat, barley and other grains and sugars.

In the 1990s the diet seemed to be rediscovered and became known as the Atkins New Diet Revolution. Since the reemergence of the Atkins diet, other low carb diets have been developed that are variations of it. The Zone Diet, the Stillman Diet, the Hollywood Diet, the Ketogenic Diet and the South Beach Diet are all based on the idea of eating fewer carbohydrates. They all advise eating more protein and limited carbs and inducing the body to burn its own fat.

Low carb diet plans differ somewhat in the amount of carbohydrates they allow, but all advise cutting out all white or starchy foods. The most strict is the 20 gram per day carb limit of the initial stage of Atkins, plus some of the other diet plans. The 20 grams is generally derived from salads and non-starchy vegetables, plus the trace amounts of carbs in sauces, dressings and cheeses.

In the first stages of a low carbohydrate diet, dieters are not allowed to have any milk, fruits, grains, cereals, pasta, breads or “high glycemic index” vegetables such as potatoes, peas, corn and carrots. The missing carbs are replaced with ample amounts of protein.

This is a very low amount of carbohydrate when compared with the large amounts of pasta and grains advised by traditional low fat diet recommendations, so this diet has become quite controversial. Butter is also included, which is another reason for the controversy over low carbohydrate eating plans. The butter is recommended because fat slows down the absorption of carbohydrates into the body and helps to maintain an even blood sugar level.

The whole idea behind Dr. Atkins original principal is that it we gain weight in our Western world because our blood sugar levels are allowed to go too high by eating too much high starch food. Control the carbohydrate levels and you control weight much more easily. Much research has shown this to be true. Of course opposing research has been done too, so the controversy continues to some extent, although it is generally acknowledged by all now that the high carb recommendations of the past were incorrect.

The great difficulty of any severely restricted diet is that most people can end up regaining much of their lost weight because of difficulty adhering to the restrictions over the long-term. This can ultimately result in rebound weight gain and is the reason that the modified versions of Atkins diet have evolved.

The Atkins diet itself though, does gradually increase the amount of carbohydrates you consume as you complete your weight loss, to avoid the extremes of losing then regaining weight. Is it right for you?

3 Simple Tips For Uncovering Crash Diets That Work

One of the most popular requests I receive from my personal training clients is to help them find crash diets that work. Most of them are aware that care has to be taken when going on any diet, much less a crash diet. Many of my clients have had little or no success with traditional diet programs, so I point them in the direction of crash diets by giving them these 3 tips.

1) Participate In Online Forums

Finding online forums that focus on weight loss is very simple to do. Simply type “forums” and “weight loss”, in to the Google search box. Literally hundreds of online forums will appear on the organic listings pages. Definitely, concentrate your efforts on the organic listings, which appear on the left hand side of the search results. The search results on the right hand side are for paid advertising.

Read the search results listings, and simply start investigating forums that seem interesting to you. When you discover a suitable forum, introduce yourself and mention that you are interested in crash diets that work. You will probably have to start a new thread, which is a new topic for members to post threads on.

2) Rely On “Good Ole” Google Again!

This time, however, you are going to type in either “crash diets that work”, or “crash diets reviews”. Another possibility is to perform a search on “new diets.”

Again, look over the search results on the left hand side. When you find a particular diet plan that seems attractive, make a note of the name of the diet and perform a Google search on that name.

You should get lots of specific feedback on that particular diet!

3) Magazines

Magazine editors realize the popularity of new and exciting weight loss programs and diets. Just go to your nearest magazine rack and glance through the covers of some of the more popular women’s magazines. You should find LOTS of new diet programs and ideas. Remember to discuss the diet with your doctor before you begin.

So, why crash diets that work?

Early this year I was approached by several of my personal training clients who wanted to lose weight. Many of them had made new year’s resolutions, and needed my help keeping them.

They begged me to find diets that produced quick results, as they had failed with most “mainstream” diets.

I began researching every diet program I could find, and even tried a few of them myself!I posted online diet surveys and even did phone interviews with the creators of some popular diets

Finally, I compiled a list of the Top Ten Diets That Work and Crash Diets That Work!
